Genesis
In the beginning, God created Heaven and earth.
Let the earth rejoice, let Heaven delight, for creation’s banner unfurled!
Let all living creatures, all that has breath of life,
Sing praise o’er all the world.
For by his mighty word, he brought light into darkness.
And from his hand he took command of land and waters,
Then with a shout he brought about the fruitful splendor,
And living creatures great and small to gaze upon his wonder.
Then with gentle touch, he made a man from clay,
To make him whole he gave a soul to light his way.
He gave his heart right from the start of our creation.
He fashioned us to walk with him in love and adoration.
Rejoice and sing your praise to God on High!
Genesis 1-2:3: Creation
The Bible was written through more than 40 different authors over a period of approximately 14 to 18 centuries. These human authors were very diverse individuals with different backgrounds and educational levels who wrote at different periods in history. Yet, in spite of this, the message of the Scripture is consistent and highly verifiable. This could be difficult (or even impossible) to understand, except for the fact that all of these authors were writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
In addition to being internally consistent (the Bible does not contradict itself), there is a great deal of external evidence that confirms dates, locations, and people, thus giving it strong reliability. Much of this external evidence comes from non-Christian or Jewish sources, many of whom set out to disprove the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God.
The first two chapters of the Bible tell us how the earth and everything in it was created. If we look around us at the vast complexity and mathematical precision of the universe, it is almost overwhelming. Examining the earth that we inhabit, we find that the distance from the sun, gravitational pull, tilt of the axis, and speed of rotation are all such that they are in perfect alignment to support and sustain life. The human body is also a magnificent symphony of biological systems working together in harmony to allow us to do what we do. The human brain has never been completely understood, because it is simply too complex.
Those who have attempted to disprove God’s Word have developed elaborate theories that claim that all of this complexity evolved over billions of years by random and chance processes. But do these theories hold any merit? A biologist once stated that the likelihood of all of this happening by chance was about as statistically possible as that of an explosion in a printing factory producing the complete works of William Shakespeare. Several other scientists, mathematicians and statisticians have determined that the odds against life being created in this chance manner were so high that they were incalculable. In other words, the odds that life and the world that supports it came from random chances and processes are statistically impossible. This leaves us with the logical conclusion that it was created by an intelligent designer.
So how do we know how the earth was created? If you have a Bible, you can have the answer directly from the Creator himself. God was there in the beginning and created the world through Jesus. John tells us:
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.”
(John 1:1-3)
The “Word” John refers to is Jesus Christ, and through him, all things were created for a purpose.
The theory of evolution and “the big bang” have been taught in schools for years, and sadly, they are accepted as fact in many circles. Even Christians have bowed to pressure to accept evolution as fact, claiming that perhaps God used evolution to create the earth. If that were the case, it would mean that God lied. God said in Genesis that the earth was created in 6 literal days followed by a day of rest approximately 6,000 year ago. After each day of creation, it says, “And evening passed and morning came”. God made it very clear that each day of creation was a literal day – not a billion year day. If God lies (which he can’t, because the one thing he can’t do is act outside of his character), then we really can’t believe anything that the Bible has to say. And to say that we can believe some parts of the Bible but not others is religious hypocrisy.
But even if we put all religion aside, evolution is simply too scientifically flawed to accept. Consider these problems:
- The gravitational interaction between the moon and the earth causes the moon to spiral away from the earth very slowly. This means that the moon would have been touching the earth only 1.5 billion years ago, which creates a problem if the earth is over 4 billion years old.1
- Scientists have found biological soft tissues in dinosaur bones that are claimed to be 65 million years old, yet research states that these cannot last more than a few thousand years.2
- Carbon-14 is found in fossils, coal, and other deposits, and it is often used to determine how old the item is. The problem for evolutionists is that the half-life of Carbon-14 is only 5,730 years. Within 10 half-lives (57,300 years) it would be virtually non-existent. When you look at fossils and other deposits that are supposedly millions of years old, they have measurable amounts of Carbon-14. This would simply not be the case, even if they were only 60,000 years old.3
- All living creatures contain genetic information. When creatures procreate, their offspring will get a combination of genes from both parents, but the offspring cannot get new genes. In other words, anything that is passed on had to have been present in at least one of the parents. Human genes have parts that are unique to humans. They are not present in ANY animals. From a genetics standpoint, there is no scientific way a human could evolve from animals.4
- All of these problems go away if you look at the earth as being created in 6 literal days, about 6,000 years ago, and then disrupted by a world-wide flood.
The points above only scratch the surface of the scientific problems that arise from an evolutionary theory. You can find much more research in these and other areas from the websites in the resources section.
So how did this theory come to be, and why does it remain? Darwin, after the loss of his daughter, went on a mission to disprove God. He was also a racist. The original name of the book included the subtitle, “The Preservation of Favored Races and the Struggle for Life.”5 Certainly there are many evolutionists today that do not share his viewpoint; however, they would do well to examine the history of the philosophy they embrace. And realistically for many, though they don’t want to remove the things about the Bible that they do like (such as salvation and forgiveness of sin), they prefer to not have to believe the parts they don’t like (such as what is and isn’t sin.). Again, we come back to the problem that if we can’t believe some parts of the Bible, then we can’t believe any of it.
The Bible predicted that people would deny the account of creation and the flood of Noah.
Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”
They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.

So, can I prove scientifically that God created the earth in 6 days about six thousand years ago? No. Can you go online and find people that will have evidence against the research here? Yes. Can we prove evolution? No. You see, no theory of the origins of the earth can be proven, because they are simply not repeatable. For me (and many others), when I look at things logically, I simply see too many flaws with evolution to give it my attention. I do see many things in creation science that point to things being as the Bible stated. And, since no one was there when it was created except God, and because I do not believe that God is capable of deception, I choose to accept His account of things.
The truth is, each one of us was uniquely and masterfully created by a loving God. We are not a mass of random chemicals, and we did not descend from monkeys. Psalm 139 assures us of this.
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
