What does it Mean to Live a Life of Victory?

Living Everyday from a Place of Victory

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (ESV)

Satan and his minions hate us, and they are continuously on the move to deceive and destroy.  But Jesus defeated sin and death on the cross.  He already fought and won the victory.  Because of HIS victory, we can live our lives from a place a victory through Jesus.

Peace

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 (ESV)

Life can be challenging.  Each day brings its own share of trials, trouble, change, confusion, and sometimes even complete upheaval.  But with Jesus, we can have peace, regardless of our circumstances.  Jesus has overcome EVERYTHING that this world can throw at us.  Through the power of His Holy Spirit, we can have a peace that cannot be shaken regardless of circumstance!

Freedom

“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (ESV)

Jesus Christ had victory over sin and death on the cross.  Because of His victory, we no longer have to be slaves to sin, addiction, fear, anxiety, or despair. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can walk in freedom and light!

Hope & Assurance

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:37-39 (ESV)

God’s love for us is beyond comprehension!  When Jesus is the Lord of your life, your eternity is secured, and nothing can take that from you.  We can have a hope that regardless of what this life brings, Jesus has something immeasurably more wonderful for us in Heaven.

Contentment

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

Philippians 4:11-12 (ESV)

God always provides, just not always in the way we want.  Discontent never leads to victorious living, but only to strife and misery.  When we learn to be filled with the Holy Spirit each day, we can find contentment and peace regardless of what we have and don’t have.

Joy

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
(John 15:11, ESV)

Happiness can come and go depending on our circumstances, but the true joy that is found is Christ Jesus can be present in your life at all times and in all circumstances.

Love

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 5:1-5 (ESV)

We live in a world filled with division, contention, hostility, and hate.  It can be hard not to fall into these traps when it is all around us, but the consequences of that lifestyle take a toll not only spiritually, but physically, mentally, and emotionally as well.  But Christ overcame this world. He has already won that victory!  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can learn to respond to hatred and hostility with love and compassion.  That is a legacy worth leaving!

Our Testimony, Our Song!

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (ESV)

When we are alive in Christ, we sing out our testimony to others simply by our actions and our attitudes, but we also have a desire for others to have the peace, hope and joy that we have in Jesus.  Our desire is to teach every Christian how to live their best Christian life in every aspect of their life (home, work, school, church, etc.) and be a light in a dark world.
