Getting a diagnosis of a chronic illness or disease can feel like a death sentence. The toll it takes on the individual, family and friends can be devastating. The resources below are designed to provide information and support services for those dealing with these types of situations.

CanCare
Trained volunteers who are cancer survivors, caregivers of cancer survivors, and medical personnel are available by phone or email to provide support to people with cancer and their caregivers.

Cancer Care
Counseling, case management, education and more. There are fees for many of their services but financial aid is available.

Alzheimer’s Association
Education, information and support for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and caregivers. This site includes guidance on food, activities, communication strategies, and more. Support groups can also be found here.

Heart Attack Support Groups
This site from Bayer Aspirin can connect you to local and online support groups.

Caregiver Support
Information for caregivers on several topics including heart disease, stroke, TIA, cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.

The Stroke Recovery Foundation
Recommendations to aid in recovery from stroke.
